2019 Motocross World Championship

On March 10th, the first round of the 2019 Motocross World Championship will begin in Argentina, at the Villa La Angostura circuit. A wide range of countries across Asia and Europe will host their scheduled races. Unfortunately, Spain has withdrawn from organizing a Grand Prix this year, meaning the 2018 event held in Castellón will not be repeated.

This Motocross Championship, which starts in Argentina, will conclude on September 29th with the Motocross of Nations Grand Prix in Assen, Netherlands.

In 2018, the Motocross Championship was won by Jeffrey Herlings, the Dutch KTM rider, followed on the podium by Antonio Cairoli and Clément Desalle. In terms of manufacturers, KTM won the brand championship, ahead of Kawasaki and Yamaha.

As part of our commitment as a supporting brand, this year we have placed special focus on sponsoring the BUD Racing Kawasaki team, which returns to the MX2 World Championship. Based in Hossegor, France, the team continues its tradition of supporting young talent and helping them develop to world-class level.

Their three star riders will be Germany’s Brian Hsu #81, France’s Brian Moreau #225, and fellow Frenchman Jimmy Clochet #520.

The Bud Racing Kawasaki team competed this weekend in the final round of the Italian Open, held at the Mantova circuit. It was a successful first outing for Brian Moreau, who reached the MX2 podium, while Brian Hsu returned to competition after a long absence.

The winner of the event was the young Spanish rider Jorge Prado, an outstanding talent at just 18 years old. In the MXGP category, the undisputed winner was Toni Cairoli.

The major absentee was Jeffrey Herlings, who suffered an injury at the end of January while training in Albaida (Spain). He sustained several fractures in his right foot, which puts his participation in the opening Grand Prix in Argentina at risk.

We have also renewed our sponsorship with the VHR KTM Racing Team, a historic presence in the World Championship owned by Bruno Verhaeghe, a former top rider from the late 1980s.
