This Sunday, August 5th, the Monster Energy Grand Prix of the Czech Republic will take place. In another post we talked about the Red Bull KTM Ajo, the team we proudly sponsor, which will be competing with its two star riders Miguel Oliveira and Brad Binder.
Expectations are high for this new round of the championship, with hopes of improving on last year’s results: Oliveira’s third place and Binder’s sixth. This circuit has very special characteristics, both for riders and spectators. Set among green rolling hills, it winds through the landscape with demanding elevation changes that truly challenge both man and machine.
In the Moto2 category, riders will complete 19 laps of 5,400 meters each, totaling just over 100 km. It is a track where speeds exceed 260 km/h, and where braking systems are pushed to the limit. The layout includes 8 right-hand corners and 6 left-hand corners, with the most demanding being Turn 3, a left-hand bend reached after the fastest straight. Riders hit 260 km/h before braking hard down to 105 km/h to negotiate the nearly 90-degree corner, subjecting the bike to an extremely sharp deceleration.
All of that energy is transferred directly to the brake discs, which reach very high temperatures after such an intense effort. The heat must then dissipate quickly so the system can continue working at full performance in the next right-hand corner, another 90-degree turn after a short straight.
The championship calendar has now reached its halfway point. Miguel Oliveira sits in second position with 141 points, just 7 points behind leader Francesco Bagnaia with 148. Brad Binder is sixth with 91 points. Everything is still open, with many races and a large number of points remaining. For now, we can only wait and see what happens this Sunday at the Monster Energy Grand Prix.
