Moto2 World Championship 2019: Season Recap

The Moto2 World Championship has come to an end for the 2019 season, and our sponsored team finished the year in a fantastic way.

The Red Bull KTM Ajo Team closed the year on a high note despite a difficult start. Brad Binder’s third consecutive victory in Moto2 pushed him up to World Championship runner-up, finishing just three points behind Álex Márquez, who claimed the title. Both riders achieved the same number of wins during the season: five in total. Binder led 108 laps across the season compared to Márquez’s 107, showing just how tight the championship fight was.

Binder’s teammate, Jorge Martín, finished the year in eleventh place. In his debut season in the category, he also secured a final podium as Rookie of the Year, finishing behind Fabio Di Giannantonio and Enea Bastianini, who ended first and second among the newcomers.

In the team standings, the Ajo Team secured third place overall in Moto2, separated by only a few points from the winners, Dynavolt Intact GP. Their rider, Thomas Lüthi, ultimately finished behind Brad Binder in the championship.

Our rider also achieved the Event Best Maximum Speed award, reaching an impressive top speed of 280.6 km/h, the highest recorded all year.

Of course, the team is already looking ahead to the 2020 season, which will most likely begin with the Qatar Grand Prix in March.

Now it is time to reflect on everything that happened and draw the best conclusions for next year. However, activity never truly stops: several testing sessions are already scheduled to fine-tune components that could make the difference in the championship to come.
