Motocross World Championship 2020

Only a few days remain until the start of the 2020 Motocross World Championship. The top competition is about to kick off, ready to deliver a spectacular show.

On March 1, the flag will drop to begin the Grand Prix of Great Britain. The Matterley Basin circuit, just 10 kilometers from Winchester, will host the first round of a long season calendar.

The championship includes 21 races, starting in Europe before heading to South America in the third round. It continues through Central America (Mexico) and then returns to Europe, before arriving in Spain — the great novelty of this year. On April 18 and 19, in Arroyomolinos, Madrid, fans will be watching with excitement.

With a bit of luck, we may see Jorge Prado on track, as he suffered a femur fracture during training. We hope that by the time the World Championship begins, he will be fully recovered. From here, we wish him the best. Stay strong, Jorge!

When the date was confirmed, Jorge commented:

“They gave me the news and I couldn’t believe it. For me it is extremely important to have a race at home, surrounded by my fans. They have also told me the details of the event and it looks very promising. In my calendar, it is already marked as one of the most important dates of the year.”

The World Championship will visit Europe, Asia and the Americas throughout the year, and will finish in France with the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Ernée, located about 70 km from Rennes and 100 km from Le Mans, in the heart of the Loire region.

In 2019, the MX2 category crowned Jorge Prado as World Champion, followed by Thomas Kjer Olsen and Jago Geerts. In the MXGP category, Tim Gajser took the title, ahead of Jeremy Seewer and Glenn Coldenhoff.

Finally, the EMX250 category crowned Roan Van De Moosdijk as champion, with Stephen Rubini and Alberto Forato finishing second and third respectively.
