DAKAR RALLY 2020: Final Results
Competition
This Dakar 2020, held on the sands of Saudi Arabia, has been an outstanding rally. It had all the ingredients needed for the race to return to its true essence — the spirit originally imagined and created by Thierry Sabine back in 1978 in Africa.
Thirteen thrilling days of competition, divided into 12 stages plus one rest day, delivered a varied route across desert landscapes, with impressive attention to detail from the organizers. In this blog, we covered the preview of this raid — you can revisit it here.
One example of the improvements introduced — widely praised by the riders — was the roadbook. This year it arrived already color-coded by the organization, highlighting the most complex and dangerous points. In addition, some stages provided the route book only that same morning, just minutes before the start. Both measures aimed to equal the playing field as much as possible.

We always say that the true adventure of Dakar is measured by the effort of the motorcycle riders. They open the track in most stages and are the most exposed to climate, terrain, and physical exhaustion.
In this edition, we deeply regret the loss of Paulo Gonçalvez, official rider of the HERO MOTOSPORTS TEAM RALLY, who suffered a tragic accident during Stage 7 of this demanding raid.
