The motorcycling community has once again demonstrated its strength and unity in the face of adversity. The solidarity response of the bikers to the DANA tragedy, which has affected several Spanish regions, has been exemplary and has made it clear that solidarity has no limits. From ‘NG BRAKES’, we know that two wheels are not only to enjoy speed, it’s also to do good and bring hope to those who need it most.

This tragedy, which has hit a large part of Spain, has left behind enormous destruction, but it has also shown the enormous solidarity of society. The response from the biker community has come as no surprise, as this group has always been known for its brotherhood and ability to act in times of need, as the legendary Joey Dunlop has done in the past.

MASSIVE HELP IN VALENCIA

A clear example of this is the initiative to help those affected by the torrential rains, which began with the action of Maikel Spa. He was joined by, among others, Berta Doria (from Mujeres Moteras), Cris Moe, Lluís (from Movimoto) and ‘Subi’ (the rider Xavier Subirana). They organised a convoy of more than 20 motorbikes to take basic necessities such as food, clothing, medicine and hygiene products to the worst affected areas. What at first seemed like a small action quickly turned into a massive effort with the participation of many other bikers.

THE SPEED OF THE MOTORBIKES, THE KEY TO HELP

One of the strengths of biker solidarity is the speed with which they can access places that are difficult to reach. Thanks to the manoeuvrability of motorbikes, volunteers can quickly reach areas that other forms of transport cannot reach due to flooding. In places like Aldaia and Catarroja, the motorbikes have been essential to deliver aid and support emergency work, as the streets were completely flooded.

JOEY DUNLOP: A REFERENCE OF SOLIDARITY

Solidarity among two-wheeled enthusiasts is nothing new. One of the greatest examples of generosity is the famous Irish rider, Joey Dunlop. Throughout his career, Dunlop was not only known for his racing skills, but also for his unwavering commitment to charitable causes. His work to raise funds and help those in need made him an icon of solidarity. Today, many of those involved in the relief efforts for the victims of the DANA remember Dunlop as an inspiration to continue these gestures.
